A Journey Through Time

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Journey Through Time Project, dedicated to preserving the culture, history, and heritage of Ingonish.

Our goal for phase one of the project is to collect

, photos, and oral histories from families whose land was expropriated to become Parks Canada land, creating a living document that preserves both their history and the broader history of our community.

This collection of family histories will be part of a larger effort to honor each family with a commemorative plaque, placed in the Clyburn Valley near the site of each homestead.

The project will also contribute to an interactive community map and an outdoor museum experience that visitors and locals alike can learn about the voices, stories, and people that have built and shaped Ingonish.

If you are a descendant of Clyburn Valley, we’d love to hear from you. Your input will help shape this community led project.

We encourage you to reach out to us at hello@ingonishartsandculture.ca to share your history.

If you’d prefer to meet in person, a member of our board would be happy to arrange a time to collect your information and hear your story firsthand.

Let’s preserve our past, celebrate our heritage, and build a deeper connection to our community’s roots.
